The Triumphant Return

Our heroes made it back, and were greeted to a champions welcome. The ale and the food poured endlessly from the thankful citizens.

That is until the black dragon, furious that his minions had been eradicated, decided to come crush the heroic group.

The town watch was notified and a plan had been hatched. The heroes prepared for the dragon's imminent arrival with catapults and archers at the ready, and they waited.

The black beast rose from the river and besieged the heroes, but ultimately it proved no match for the group. As it was about to escape, Unrock aided the beast's retreat and vanished.

Confused and angry by their comrades evident betrayal, the group sought to finish off the beast. They once again found their way to the Stone Tooth, to where the black beast slept, and finished the job.

Once again they returned, this time with the black's head as a trophy, and once again they were given a feast in their honor.

Sir Miles Barrick, the mayor of Blasingdell, offered the group an official position in the town, but our group hesitantly turned him down.

After a somewhat lengthy period of consideration, during which an ancient family curse was hopefully lifted, and a sickly griffon was put down, the group decided to take on a job escorting a trade caravan for the city, in order to aid them in rebuilding the damaged town.

Khundrukar

The city council put out a reward on the heads of these Orcish marauders. That alone would be incentive enough for the adventurers, but Kheldegan had another good reason for them.

The Dwarven fortress in the Stone Tooth was known as Khundrukar, and the forges burned hotly many years ago. Mighty and magical weapons and armors were forged centuries ago at that very spot, and according to Kheldegan's research, they should still be there.

The adventurers traveled to the once-mighty fortress and found their way in, wisely avoiding the main entrance for a more stealthy approach. Almost immediately they found evidence of even greater dangers in the mountainhome, from strange and fantastic creatures to the dark and evil Duergar, and even a hateful and wicked black dragon.

They looted the ancient forges and even found the remains of Kheldegan's own grandfather. Due to the clever if slightly evil plan of the Druid Unrock, they poisoned the Orc's foodstuffs, effectively neutralizing the majority of their forces.

The adventurers were joined by two more hearty heroes during their delve. The Dwarven Cleric of Might, Brocken, and the Fire Savant, Faurin. After careful infiltration of the sickly Orc's home, they dispatched the remaining forces.

The Stonetooth

The group traveled to Blasingdell, a town that through hard work and excellent planning, became a prosperous trading city. The town was built on the edge of a mighty river, the Dimrall, under the broken remains of an ancient Giant's bridge.

There, the Dwarf Kheldegan Tolm plied his trade, outfitting adventurers and trading caravans for the town and on the side, doing research on his personal family history. His grandfather was once a founding member of the great Dwarven Fortress of The Stonetooth. The fortress, several hundred years ago, fell to an enormous Orcish invasion, only to sit empty and barren for years. Only recently, a new tribe of Orcs have made their home in the fortress, eager to plunder the treasures of the fortress and to pillage the nearby civilizations.

Unfortunately, one of the nearby civilizations happened to be the Independent Trade & Mining Town of Blasingdell.

The Hamlet of Stump Cross

The tiny hamlet of Stump Cross had no more than 200 people living within its boundaries. The most notable was a man who once served under the King as a military outfitter, Leon Fireheart. A noble-hearted human blacksmith now, he strives to keep this little hole-in-the-ground together with iron and nails.

The druid Unrock and the Monk Layla both hailed from this tiny hamlet. Unrock, though often found distaste in civilization, somewhat liked the little hamlet. It wasn't too big, and wasn't too developed. Layla hailed from a nearby monastery, a temple dedicated to the strength and willpower of the tiny-bodied Halflings.

The group of travelers came into town, tired but positive. They decided to spend some of their hard-earned loot hammering out their new friendships at the local tavern, the Bottle Rocker. There they met a smattering of this town's best and brightest. A very bashful dwarf, a very frail elf, and Leon himself.

Upon hearing of their discovery he reveled in their strength. When he heard that they had encountered a few scouts of the Bugbear Ironjaw, he realized that something was amiss.

The nearby camp of Goblinoids had usually kept to themselves, but recently a raiding party had taxed the village's defenses heavily. Leon knew they must be on the move again, possibly seeking a new base of operations with which to strike at them more viciously. He requested the group to put an end to these marauders once-and-for-all.

The group was lead to the Goblins by the Druid, and after setting a clever trap for them, was able to root out the invaders. They tracked down and finished off Ironjaw before he could cause any more damage, and was even able to put a group of the goblins in the loving care of Leon himself. One particular Goblin, Sleestack the Stringy, found himself a new boss in Jack Hammer.

After returning triumphant to the Hamlet, Leon had one final request for the group. His old war buddy, Kheldegan Tolm, had come by a few months prior with dire news. Orcs had been causing problems for the Independent Trade & Mining Town of Blasingdell. The group agreed to travel on, each with their own reasons for joining in.

Some more noble than others.

The Adventure Begins

The Tor of Hightower was to be simply a way out of the rain for this group of strangers. A storm raged on to the point where it was dangerous to continue on down the trade roads and seeking shelter in this old, worn-out mound sealed the fates of these few odd individuals.

The Elven Archer, Theriel, found his way to this unusual canopy only to discover a small band of others. A halfling monk, Layla. A gruff half-orc Druid and his wolf, Unrock. Finally, a gruff Barbarian named Jack. The four of them had no reason to be friendly to one another, but the weather seemed to ease the small talk.

Several minutes later, a loud crack of thunder shook the ground, and a large stone gave way to a previously hidden passage. The group decided to investigate only to find that it was the entrance into the Tor, a kind of ancient, underground burial chamber, usually topped with a tower to mark the grave.

They made their way in to discover the Tor wasn't so dead afterall. Odd creatures and traps besieged them, and an encounter with some Hobgoblins left questions in their minds.

After plumbing the depths of this chamber, the group made their way out as the storm outside waned. The nearby village of Stump Cross awaited them.

Introduction Post

This blog is created for the purposes of recording the adventures of a handful of heroes, and also to provide them with a supplemental source of information about the regions, their characters and anything else I think would be helpful or important.

Here's a list of the adventurers who have so recently been making names for themselves in the Town of Blasingdell.

  • Theriel Windmoor, an Elven Bowyer who has begun following the path of the Arcane Archers, looking to make a name for himself and for a cause worthy of his bow.
  • Layla Greenbottle, a Halfling Monk who hails from the Monastery of Stump Cross, eager to prove her mettle in combat, despite her diminutive physique.
  • Cora Greenbottle, a Halfling Rogue who, at long last, has located her long-lost sister, only to find herself waist-deep in adventures that her newly reunited sibling constantly finds herself in.
  • Unrock, a Half-Orc Druid and his wolven companion, Fenrir. His methods and motivations are mysterious to the group, and he has a genuine distaste of civilization, often undermining it.
  • Brocken von der Tiefpunkt, Dwarven Cleric of Strength. With the divine power of his Dwarven ancestors guiding him, he seeks to prove himself a mighty ally and to set right those who would defile the Dwarven ways.
  • Faurin Savalin, Human Sorceress, Elemental Savant of Fire. With her elemental familiar Charbee, she sets forth on her personal quest to set her enemies aflame.
  • Jack Hammer, a Human Fighter Barbarian. With enormous strength, the wild fighter bashed through swarms of his foes until he met Slestack, an unusually kindly Goblin. With Jack's guidance, Slestack became a Bard, following Jack and singing praise of his master with his bagpipes. After plumbing an ancient tower, Jack and Slestack left for lands unknown, but perhaps fate will bring them back again.
